What is Allegro?
Corelle with blue and grey bands is too frequently misidentified as Allegro. This may be due to its appearance on the first page alphabetically on pattern ID sites, and with a small photo it looks 'close enough'. The truth is, any piece with a wide blue band and a thinner grey band is either Slate or Indigo. The difference between these two patterns is primarily in the plate style, but their colour schemes are identical.
Neither of these are Allegro. Indigo (top); Slate (bottom).
Genuine Allegro is coupe shaped with two dark blue bands, one wide and one very thin. This shade of blue is darker than the blue band on Slate and Indigo. Allegro was available in the mid 1990s and it is actually very scarce, while Slate and Indigo, from the 1980s, are much more common.
Allegro's high alphabetical ranking meant that it also appeared on the first page of a poll conducted on the official Corelle website. Allegro and two other patterns beginning with 'A' were in the top five when the results were revealed. Its apparent popularity among poll participants meant that Allegro was re-introduced in the spring of 2008, and remained available for about one year.
