What's the difference between Calico Rose and Rose Trellis?
It is true that the same design has been produced on both a beige background and a white background, an unusual circumstance. Yet both patterns were given unique names and Calico Rose's twin is called Rose Trellis. They both use the standard rimmed plate style which was first seen in 1985. Calico Rose on beige is from the Natural Images product line, while Rose Trellis on white belongs to Design Images.
Calico Rose from a 1985 brochure. Straight-sided stoneware mugs might have been available for only a short time.
Rose Trellis from a 1986 brochure. The cup style pictured here is more usual for Calico Rose as well. Rose Trellis never came with mugs.
