Pyrex Compatibles - Woodland (1978)
This line of Pyrex was introduced in 1978 to complement the Corelle pattern launched that same year. At its introduction, Woodland was already clad in the new updated appearance which would be found on Butterfly Gold and Spring Blossom Green in 1979. There has never been a version of this pattern featuring a brown design on opal Pyrex in the category of ovenware & nesting bowls. The colour scheme of the complete sets alternates between chocolate brown and caramel brown.
By the late 1970s the variety of different pieces produced in opal Pyrex had been substantially pared back, and the following pieces were not made in Woodland: Divided Dishes, 4 Qt 664 Casseroles and Baking Pan sets. Ovenware and nesting bowls in this pattern were discontinued between 1982 and 1984, but the Corelle remained in production to the end of 1985.
402 & 401 Round Nesting Bowls in Woodland.
Beginning in 1979 and through the early 1980s the 474 and 475 casseroles were sold individually with the numbers 484 and 485 respectively on the boxes. Normally when the 474 was sold in a set it was the lighter caramel shade. However, when it was sold singly it was decorated with the darker chocolate colour.
It is quite unfortunate that a popular reference book claims that Woodland dates ‘from the 60s'. That turns out to be false. Without a doubt, it is from the late 70s.
