Pyrex Bakeware in Corelle Cradles: Pyrex Coordinates
Forever Yours, Symphony: Around 1990, dark brown amber Pyrex bakeware was paired with metal serving cradles in two Corelle patterns: Forever Yours and Symphony. In the early 1980s this type of metal holder had been a familiar item in the Fireside Originals product line, but these older examples had been decorated with designs unrelated to Corelle.
There are three different shapes, but all of them have a 2 Qt capacity:
Round: 024 casserole with 624 lid Square: 222-R 8x8 pan Rectangular: 232-R 11x7 pan
Amber Pyrex 222-R square pan with Symphony cradle.
The model numbers for the square and rectangular pans are suffixed with 'R', this denotes a newer style of baking pan with tab handles instead of full-width ones. The older style debuted in the 1950s, but it was still in production in the 1980s when this type of metal stand was designed. So a regular 222 or 232 will fit the cradle equally well, but the 222-R and 232-R came with Corelle-patterned cradles originally. Conversely, the 024/624 casserole has not changed its shape significantly since the 1950s.
Blue Velvet, Summer Blush: There is at least one example of a clear rectangular Pyrex pan equipped with a basket made to match Corelle. The set included two patterned ribbons, one printed with Blue Velvet and the other in Summer Blush. The ribbon could be woven through the sides of the basket, encircling its circumference. Not a lot is known about this item, there could be other shapes and patterns also. Since both patterns were introduced in 1996, this Pyrex set would date to about that time.
Almond, Cinnamon, Citrus: In 1981 the 'Baker In A Hammock' was designed to co-ordinate with the first three patterns of the Dimension IV product line. The set was comprised of a 3 Qt clear Pyrex 233 pan (9x13) and a hardwood frame supporting a canvas hammock. For serving, the Pyrex pan was suspended in the hammock, protecting the tabletop from the hot surface. The detachable canvas was available in solid Cinnamon and striped Almond and Citrus.
