1973 Leaflet - Pyrex Beverage Maker Use & Care

Pyrex Carafe with silver leaf decoration, candle-warmer stand. This leaflet from December 1973 came with a Pyrex coffee carafe.  It includes directions for using many types of Pyrex hot beverage makers with an emphasis on making coffee with the Valu-Perk and the vacuum coffeemaker.  A Valu-Perk was less expensive than a Flameware percolator; its internal components are heat-resistant black plastic instead of glass.

Important tips on care and use of your new PYREX Ware beverage makers. The Corning Promise.

Pyrex carafes and percolators are different from those in the Flameware line, but they also can be used carefully on the stove, and a heat spreader grid is necessary on electric burners.  Simple carafes can be used for making tea, instant coffee and hot chocolate.

Directions for stove-top use and safety, and a note on serving sizes, which explains that 1 cup of coffee is not 8 oz, like a measuring cup is.  Also, how to use the 6 cup and 9 cup Valu-Perk.  Some literature also rates the capacity of the 810 model as 10 cups.
