Anchor Hocking Placesetters Collection

Early 1970s, Anchor Hocking introduced the Placesetters Collection, a line of opal glass dinnerware.  Exact starting and ending dates are not known for this product, but a 1973 Montgomery Ward catalogue offering Corelle also offers Placesetters on the adjacent page.  The Placesetters Collection was much less expensive than Corelle Livingware.

Springwood is an avocado green floral, and it bears an obvious resemblance to Spring Blossom Green.  This pattern's name can hardly be a complete coincidence.  The harvest gold decoration is called Athena, but it does not strongly suggest Butterfly Gold.  Although taking a closer look at this classical Grecian influenced design, there are motifs within it that are not unlike butterflies.  The Placesetters Collection also was available in undecorated white, but this pattern name is not known.

The pieces are marked: "Anchor Hocking ... Oven Proof ... Placesetters Collection ... Made in U.S.A."  One place setting consists of a dinner plate, soup/cereal bowl, dessert bowl, and cup & saucer.  Cups, creamers and sugar bowls are solid coloured, but the sugar bowl lid is plain white.  Other items include a 9" serving bowl and a 12" round platter.
