1981 - Pyrex Cups (round-bottom)

 This style was first used in the multi-coloured Traditions product line launched in 1981. In 1982 the classic one-coloured patterns which discarded the hook-handle cup, would include this Pyrex cup, and a few years later this line would be called the ‘Sunrise Collection’. This style of cup was last available early 1986.
 In the 1980s, this style was always made of Pyrex, although some of them have the confusing Corning name on them. They can be mistaken for the early 1970s cups made of Centura, as they share the same shape. But the backstamp will definitely show that they are made of Pyrex. The clue is the embossed lettering and the ‘No Stovetop or Broiler’ warning.
What is believed to be the older stamp reads ‘Pyrex…Microwave Safe…No Stovetop or Broiler…Corning NY USA’. The possibly newer stamp says ‘Corning…Corning NY USA…Microwave Safe…No Stovetop or Broiler’.
Although the backstamp does not mention it, this shape does have a model number: 618.
Creamers & Sugar Bowls:
The cream & sugar set which accompanied this style of cup has much in common with the Pyrex flared mugs. The sugar bowl is short and quite wide with a white plastic lid. This lid is the same style as that of the Expressions Centura sugar bowl, but it is a different kind of plastic; it is translucent rather than opaque.
