1970 - Centura Cups (round-bottom)

Livingware Centura Cup - Snowflake Blue(8 oz)  Available Patterns:  Butterfly Gold, Snowflake Blue, Winter Frost White, Spring Blossom Green.

This type of cup was produced from 1970 through to the end of 1973.  They are made of Centura glass-ceramic, and are not microwave-safe, although no warnings about this kind of use appear on the backstamp.

Livingware Centura BackstampThe cups have a black ink backstamp which reads "Corelle Livingware by Corning ... Made in USA".  An obvious characteristic distinguishing these cups from real Corelle is that they are very densely opaque; light does not shine through them at all.  They share the same shape as the Pyrex cups introduced in the early 1980s, but Pyrex cups are more translucent than Corelle and have completely different markings.

Genuine Corelle made of Vitrelle also carries the Corelle Livingware brand name, printed in black ink as well.  This description of Centura cups does not mean that every piece marked Corelle Livingware is unsuitable for the microwave.  This concern only applies to this specific closed-handle cup.

Although the backstamp does not mention it, this shape does have a model number: 318.
