1988 Leaflet - Corning Ware Use & Care
This use & care manual is from an original box of Shadow Iris Corning Ware. The code at the bottom of the first page implies that it was written in 1988.
Corning Ware may be used on the stovetop, for baking and broiling in the oven, and in the microwave. Heat spreader grids for electric burners have never been necessary for Corning Ware; that concern is limited to Flameware cookware and Pyrex coffee pots only.
The brochure describes techniques for successful cooking and baking with Corning Ware, since it behaves differently than metal pans do.

It mentions that Corning Ware of any age with the 'glowing flame' logo is microwave safe without its metallic parts. It is also admitted that Corning Ware is not meant to be unbreakable from hard knocks, and this type of damage is not covered by the warranty at all. Conversely, it is highly resistant to temperature changes, and breakage of this nature seems to be covered for life, although more recent warranty statements for Corning Ware are limited to ten years.

Plastic covers are meant for food storage only, and cannot be used for cooking, even in the microwave. Pyrex lids require careful use to avoid heat shock.
