Pattern Profile: Morning Blue (1982)

First appearing in 1982, Morning Blue made a new addition to the long line of classic one-colour Livingware designs which would become The Sunrise Collection in 1984.  Although it is officially stated that Morning Blue is discontinued, it is still in production and can be purchased at factory outlet stores.

It was the first pattern of its kind that did not encompass Pyrex ovenware & nesting bowls, and no Tabletop Ware either.  By 1982 the Compatibles brand name was no longer in use, although selected Pyrex items for other Corelle patterns were still offered.  Tabletop Ware was nearing the end of its lifespan, and these items were never manufactured in Morning Blue.

Others:

Licensed glassware was made for Morning Blue.  Indiana Glass produced a line of 'Drinkware For Corelle', and their glasses can be recognized by the 'double bulge' near the bottom.  Libbey, or its subsidiary Crisa, produced glassware with a 'single bulge' at the base and a narrow top.

Another glassware style, by an unidentified maker, came in 2 sizes, and these glasses have a slight hour-glass shape, narrowest in the middle and flared top and bottom; the base is flat and thin.  The design looks absolutely authentic on this style as well.

Other licensed Coordinates include placemats from Conimar Corporation and glass counter-savers from Vance Industries.  Plastic thermal mugs also exist, marked 'Corning Coordinates 1990'.  Cutlery with decorated plastic handles was also made for Morning Blue.
