Pattern Profile:
Blue Floral, Calico Rose, Lace Bouquet, Windflower (1985) 

The first product line to include the new wider rimmed plate style, Natural Images debuted in 1985 with Blue Floral, Calico Rose, Lace Bouquet and Windflower, among others.  They are also notable as the second group of patterns to feature a beige background.  Blue Floral is a one-colour design with an all-over pattern, and it marks a return to the traditional blue onion motif first seen with Old Town Blue.  The remaining patterns are two-colour designs decorated on the rim, and two are patterned in the centre as well. 

Bowls, saucers and platters are decorated only with a matching coloured band.  One catalogue lists these items for Lace Bouquet and Windflower as the same item, with a blue-grey band.  When Windflower's pattern is mainly pale green, bowls decorated with light blue might not seem like a perfect match, but apparently it is the correct match.  It is unclear whether these items became available later in a more appropriate colour.

Initially the sets came with colour-banded straight-sided stoneware mugs, but one year later sets would be available with cups & saucers also.  These cups had the new 'Images' shape, with straight sides and rounded bottom, decorated with a pattern, and made of stoneware.  This style made the transition to Suprema in the early 1990s for Lace Bouquet and Calico Rose.  Lace Bouquet also came with Suprema straight-sided mugs.

Of these initial Natural Images patterns, Lace Bouquet was available the longest, being discontinued January 1995.  The final year for Calico Rose might be 1992, but Blue Floral and Windflower were dropped sometime between 1987 and 1992; exact dates are not known.

Others:
Glassware was made for Blue Floral, Calico Rose and Lace Bouquet with authentic looking designs.  One known style, by an unidentified maker, came in 3 or more sizes, and these glasses have a straight-sided shape, slightly narrower at the bottom with a thick heavy base.  Another style for Blue Floral, also unidentified, has a slight hour-glass shape, narrowest in the middle and flared top and bottom; the base is flat and thin.
