Pattern Profile: Burgundy, Ribbon Bouquet (1984)

It would appear that Burgundy and Ribbon Bouquet were introduced in 1984.  Depicted in hues of burgundy and grey respectively, they reflect the popular colour trends of the time.  They were the newest additions to the long line of classic one-colour designs which were grouped together as ‘The Sunrise Collection’ that same year.  The bowls, saucers and oval platters are decorated on the rim with only a single coloured band.  Burgundy and Ribbon Bouquet were discontinued between 1987 & 1992, but an exact ending date is not known.

These patterns did not encompass Pyrex ovenware and nesting bowls.  By this time the Compatibles brand name was no longer in use, although selected Pyrex items for one or two Corelle patterns were still in production.  As for Tabletop Ware, nearly all items had been discontinued in the previous year.  The exception was the 1410 mug which was available in both Burgundy and Ribbon Bouquet.

Glassware was made for Ribbon Bouquet with an authentic looking design.  One known style, by an unidentified maker, came in 2 sizes, and these glasses have a slight hour-glass shape, narrowest in the middle and flared top and bottom; the base is flat and thin.

There have not been any unofficial imitations of Burgundy or Ribbon Bouquet from other manufacturers noted as yet.
