Blue 401s: Comparing Original & New Multi-Colour Bowls
The original multi-colour bowl set was available for about 22 years, and it was replaced by a new multi-colour set in 1968. Both sets have a blue 401, but the new blue is darker and much more intense than the colour of a typical blue 401.

It is true that even in the original 400 set, the exact shade of blue became a bit darker as time progressed, but it is still quite distinguishable from the striking blue colour found in the new set.
Blue 401, Orange 402, Yellow 403 from New Multi-Colour 400 set. A dark green 404 completes this set, it is the same as Verde's 404.
