Comparing Amber Pyrex & Amber Visions
Approximately six years prior to the 1983 debut of Visions, dark brown clear Pyrex was launched in the new "Fireside" product line. It is of the utmost importance not to confuse Fireside Pyrex with Visions. It is easy to do since they are almost the same colour. It is vital to remember that Visions is a glass-ceramic formulated for use on the stovetop, but if amber Pyrex is used in this way the result will certainly be disastrous with a real risk of personal injury.

In the right light, the colour difference between the two materials is obvious. Visions glass has a golden orange tint, while amber Pyrex is simply brown. Under most conditions though, they do seem very similar, and the brand name will always confirm whether it is Pyrex or Visions.
If the product is not marked Vision or Visions, then it is not glass-ceramic stove-top ware. Items with a "not for broiler or stovetop" warning are made of Pyrex. If the piece is marked as Pyrex then it is not Visions.

Lids made to match Visions cookware are frequently made of amber Pyrex, and this is alright because with proper use, the lid will never be in direct contact with the stove. Both Visions and clear Pyrex were also available in Cranberry.
